Summer is in Full-Swing at The Woodinville Schoolhouse District

Summer has arrived in the Northwest with ample opportunities to soak up some much-needed vitamin D while enjoying a host of al fresco activities around Puget Sound. The Schoolhouse District, located in the heart of downtown Woodinville, is an ideal destination for individuals and families with a variety of dining and experiences on offer and a lineup of stellar summer events.

Upcoming happenings include a series of family-friendly free outdoor movie nights hosted by the YMCA on Fridays from July through August on the Schoolhouse District’s Grand Lawn. A live music series, Saturday afternoons through August at various winery tasting rooms throughout the Schoolhouse District, is also free to the public. And, the Woodinville Farmer’s Market, taking place Saturdays throughout the summer, offers a variety of local produce, hand-crafted items, and plenty of gourmet snacks and treats. Nestled around the historic Woodinville Schoolhouse building (built in 1909 and listed on the National Register of Historic places in 2017), The Schoolhouse District opened in 2021 and included a restoration of the original Schoolhouse along with several new wine tasting rooms, restaurants, and services, returning vitality to one of the most storied corners of Woodinville.

Visitors can enjoy wines from Washington and around the globe at a variety of tasting rooms, including: Valdemar Estates, L’École No. 41, Montinore Estate, Landlines Estates, Barnard Griffin, Mullan Road Cellars, and McQueen Champagne Bar. All offer patio seating along with special tasting experiences, such as L’École No. 41’s wine and caviar tasting. Crossbuck Brewing, located across the Grand Lawn, offers hand-crafted local brews.

Dining options include Ethan Stowell’s family-friendly Ballard Pizza Company and the upscale Walla Walla Steak Co. Valdemar Estates also recently launched Pintxo, a Spanish-style tapas and cocktail lounge with regular paella nights (Thursdays and Sundays), and weekend brunch. Happy Hour specials and patio seating make The Schoolhouse District a great destination for early evening libations. And, no visit would be complete with a stop at Ephesus Café & Gelato for an afternoon espresso and sweet treat.

If pampering is on the menu, Oasis MedSpa & Salon features a range of hair services along with a selection of spa and skin treatments.

The Schoolhouse District also offers ample opportunity to relax with vital “third places,” spaces where people can gather and simply be. Whether taking in a game at the adjacent Woodinville Sports Field, cozying up with a book at the outdoor firepit, or working out the wiggles at the YMCA’s “Schoolyard” public playground or “Teacher’s Pet” dog park, there are spaces and activities for all.

This summer, The Schoolhouse District will be abuzz with a variety of special events.
