A Canopy Tour with Conscience Opens for the Season on Camano Island

Spring in the Pacific Northwest signals the return of outdoor adventure, and Canopy Tours Northwest is officially open for the season. Located just one hour from Seattle on scenic Camano Island, this guided zipline experience invites guests to soar through the forest canopy of historic Kristoferson Farm—where family legacy, regenerative land stewardship and immersive outdoor recreation come together.

Set on a multi-generational, family-owned farm, Canopy Tours Northwest offers a rare opportunity to experience the Pacific Northwest from above while gaining a deeper connection to the land below. In 2023, conservation easements were signed with the Whidbey Camano Island Land Trust to ensure the property will remain farm and forest land, protected in perpetuity, reinforcing the Kristoferson family’s long-standing commitment to conservation, sustainable forestry and thoughtful land use.

“Opening each season is a celebration of both adventure and stewardship,” said Mona Kristoferson Campbell,” director of marketing at Canopy Tours Northwest. “We’re proud to welcome guests not only to zipline through the trees, but to experience the beauty and care that defines our family farm.”

Designed to be both exhilarating and accessible, Canopy Tours Northwest offers a fully guided journey through the forest canopy that is ideal for families, groups and first-time adventurers alike. Highlights include:

  • Six zip lines that range from gentle introductory rides to soaring forest flights

  • A suspension log bridge and scenic forest trails

  • A smooth, controlled final descent from more than 40 feet

  • Certified guides trained in both safety and regenerative tourism principles

  • Interpretive moments that highlight the surrounding ecosystem

This season, Canopy Tours Northwest is also welcoming a newly trained class of guides, now equipped with a primer in regenerative tourism. Guides are encouraged to foster deeper connections between guests and the forest—creating space to slow down, engage the senses and fully experience the landscape. Along the way, guests may even encounter seasonal foraging moments, with native plants like huckleberries, miner’s lettuce and Indian plum adding to the immersive experience.

Grounded in regenerative tourism principles, the experience is intentionally integrated into the working landscape of the farm and forest, where conservation, biodiversity and sustainable agriculture shape the visitor. Guests leave not only with a sense of thrill, but with a deeper appreciation for the ecosystems that make the Pacific Northwest so distinctive.

Accessible by bridge just a short drive from Seattle, Camano Island offers an easy and scenic getaway. Visitors can pair their canopy tour with beach walks, local farms and a slower pace of travel that defines the island experience—making it ideal for day trips, birthday and milestone celebrations, weekend escapes and family outings.

The 2026 season is now open, with tours running throughout spring, summer and fall. Advance reservations are recommended.

About Kristoferson Farm

Founded in 1912, family-owned Kristoferson Farm has evolved from a traditional working farm—once home to dairy cows and alpacas—into a dynamic agricultural and visitor destination on Camano Island. Today, with leadership from the next generation of the Kristoferson family, the farm produces hay, fragrance and culinary lavender, apples, flowers, and pumpkins, while embracing its role as a gathering place for recreation and culinary experiences.

The sustainably managed, 231-acre property includes 100 acres of forest, 100 acres of active farmland and additional open space with lakes and streams, reflecting a long-standing commitment to conservation and land stewardship. At its heart stands a restored barn built in 1914 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Kristoferson Farm is located at 332 NE Camano Drive, Camano Island, Washington. For more information visit www.kristofersonfarm.com.
