A New Adults-Only Forest Retreat Opens on Washington’s Olympic Peninsula
Menizei debuts design-forward luxury camping above the Salish Sea with reservations opening February 14 and stays beginning April 1.
Menizei, an adults-only luxury camping property on Washington’s Olympic Peninsula, announces the grand opening of a one-of-a-kind couple’s retreat designed for rest, connection, and intentional time in nature. Perched above the Salish Sea amid towering Grand Fir, Hemlock, and Western Red Cedar trees near Olympic National Park and offering a refined approach to glamping in Washington state, Menizei takes its name from the scientific name of the Douglas Fir, Pseudotsuga menziesii.
Following a soft opening in 2025, reservations for the first full season open February 14 for stays beginning April 1 through October 31.
Positioned as a romantic getaway in Washington state while remaining welcoming to solo and small travel groups, Menizei blends minimalist architecture, low-stimulation design, and curated wellness rituals to support rest, presence, and reflection. Three private basecamps pair signature blackout sleep tents with floating custom-build bathhouses for two that include a private sauna within, and expansive views of forest, sea, and sky.
At the heart of the Menizei experience is Forest Cocooning, the property’s signature nature-immersion practice. Rooted in forest therapy, attention restoration research, and relationship science, Forest Cocooning invites couples to move through their stay with intention—balancing shared connection and personal restoration.
“At Menizei, we wanted to reimagine what luxury camping in Washington state could feel like,” said Janice Wilson, founder and steward of Menizei. “Forest Cocooning isn’t about doing more. It’s about creating the conditions for calm, attunement, and deep rest, with your partner. Everything here is sequenced with intention, from how you sleep to how you move through the day.”
Guests can enhance their stay with optional experiences such as forest-based massage therapy, private sauna rituals, curated fireside dining, and professional photography sessions designed to mark milestone moments. Days unfold organically with tide pooling, forest walks, stargazing, and quiet coastal exploration, while evenings gather guests around their private fire for Menizei’s refined campfire dining—featuring gourmet kits, locally curated boards, and elevated comfort classics like the Black Label Hot Dog, a fireside reimagining finished with caviar for a quietly extravagant dinner for two.
Menizei features three private, design-forward basecamps that include a signature blackout tent with a king bed designed for deep, uninterrupted sleep, paired with ocean soundscapes from the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
Private custom-made floating bathhouses for two were created in collaboration with award-winning architecture firm GO’C. They offer heated floors, Kohler fixtures, Toto bidets, and custom-built Finnleo saunas for two, allowing guests to enjoy spa-level comfort while maintaining a minimal footprint on the land. Expansive windows and skylights blur the boundary between indoors and out, while minimalist Adirondack seating offers panoramic views of the Salish Sea and, on clear days, Canada’s coastline beyond.
Reservations can be made directly through their website or on Airbnb. Full-property reservations, a maximum of six guests, are available for private micro-retreats and milestone celebrations, including anniversaries, proposals, small weddings, elopements, and intimate gatherings.
