Taiwan Tourism Administration Opens First U.S. Office in Seattle

The Taiwan Tourism Administration (TTA) proudly announces the opening of the first Taiwan Tourism Information Center (TTIC) in the United States, located in Seattle’s prestigious Two Union Square. This milestone launch marks a significant step in Taiwan’s efforts to expand its tourism presence in North America and deepen travel, cultural, and business ties between Taiwan and the United States.

TTIC Seattle is not only the first of its kind in the U.S., but also a key hub in support of Taiwan’s growing “Waves of Wonder” tourism campaign. With its eco-conscious values, international connectivity, and strong ties to Asia, Seattle serves as an ideal Pacific gateway — offering direct flights to Taipei on EVA Air, China Airlines, STARLUX Airlines, and Delta Air Lines.

“Seattle’s vibrant, globally engaged community is the perfect setting for our first U.S. tourism office,” said Ben Huang, Director of the International Affairs Division, Taiwan Tourism Administration. “This new center enables us to connect more deeply with American travelers and share the unique, inspiring experiences that Taiwan has to offer.”

On Friday, June 13, Taiwan tourism delegates, travel trade partners, and industry VIPs gathered at TTIC Seattle for the official unveiling. Later that day, more than 200 guests from the media, tourism, and travel sectors joined a lively celebration at The Four Seasons Seattle — featuring indigenous music and dance, Taiwanese-inspired food and drinks, a lantern-lighting ceremony, and special giveaways.

The TTIC will serve as a central resource for travelers, media, and tourism professionals throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond — including cities such as Portland, Salt Lake City, and Denver. Taiwan’s tourism offerings range from world-renowned culinary experiences and historic temples to scenic destinations such as Taroko Gorge, Alishan, Sun Moon Lake, and Taipei 101. The island is also celebrated for its hot springs, mountain hiking trails, and thriving night markets.

“Taiwan is a place of contrast and connection,” said Director Huang. “It’s where ancient festivals meet modern design, and where a street food snack can be as memorable as a five-star meal. There’s truly something for everyone.”

The TTIC Seattle will highlight Taiwan’s emphasis on sustainability, accessibility, and inclusivity — including its leadership as the first country in Asia to legalize same-sex marriage, its vegetarian-friendly food culture, and its efforts to create travel experiences that are welcoming to older adults and travelers with mobility needs.

As part of its long-term strategy, the TTA aims to make the Seattle TTIC a permanent platform for collaboration. Future plans include community festivals, roadshows, travel advisor workshops, and partnerships with Seattle landmarks. Programs such as Taiwan Tourism School and FAM (familiarization) trips will help educate and equip local travel professionals with the tools to promote Taiwan to U.S. travelers.

“We invite local agents, media, and community partners to stop by the TTIC, share a cup of Taiwanese tea, and discover what makes Taiwan so special,” said Director Huang.

The “Waves of Wonder” campaign captures the essence of Taiwan: dynamic, layered, and full of discovery. It reflects the island’s diverse experiences — from the peaceful rhythm of coastal villages to the vibrant energy of city life, and from deep cultural traditions to modern-day innovation.

This latest initiative solidifies Taiwan’s position as a must-visit destination for U.S. travelers seeking authentic, meaningful, and enriching journeys.

Located at 601 Union Street in Two Union Square, the Taiwan Tourism Information Center offers bilingual travel resources, itinerary planning support, cultural displays, and collaboration opportunities for media and the travel trade. It is open to visitors seeking firsthand insight into Taiwan’s offerings and will host ongoing programming to build awareness across the region.

The Taiwan Tourism Administration is the official government agency dedicated to promoting Taiwan as a world-class travel destination. With Tourism Information Centers in Paris, Amsterdam, and now Seattle, TTA highlights Taiwan’s natural wonders, culinary excellence, vibrant culture, and global hospitality.
