Pinkies Down: Uneeda Try This 'Berger + Burger Pairing

Uneeda Burger and Kiona Vineyards are teaming up this fall to showcase a new pairing.  Kiona’s Lemberger, an under the radar varietal full of the big flavors for which Washington’s Red Mountain AVA is known, will be featured alongside Uneeda’s Bison Burger which features grass-fed bison patty, red onion jam, bacon, Beecher's Cheddar, and house sauce. Grab for takeout or try your hand at home!

Coined the ‘Berger + Burger takeout special, it includes one bottle of Kiona’s Lemberger, two Bison Burgers and two sides of seasonal Squash Tempura for $60.

The experience can also be replicated at home with Kiona’s Lemberger and Chef Scott Staple’s recipe, all available at www.kionawine.com/news/2020-berger-burger.

“Lemberger pairs well with real people food, you don’t need to drink this with pinkies out. The big flavors and approachable price point make it the perfect burger pairing,” notes JJ Williams, General Manager at Kiona Vineyards. “While some may reminisce on the days of dining out with a Cabernet and filet, these days we’re all looking for something more approachable that can be enjoyed at home. “

“We always want to find new and interesting ways to package at-home dining experiences, and while 2020 continues to bring challenges for so many, we want to bring our customers both levity and nourishment in this fun and approachable way,” said Uneeda Chef Scott Staples. “Kiona Vineyards Lemberger offers a perfect balance that stands up to the bison and the richness of the bacon and cheese and the sweet aspect of the caramelized red onions that have sherry vinegar and fresh thyme.”

In support of nationwide equality, for each bottle of Lemberger sold through the end of 2020, through the tasting room at the winery and at Uneeda Burger, one dollar will be donated to the NAACP.

A pioneer of the Red Mountain AVA, Kiona has been growing Lemberger since the early years of the family’s estate vineyard in 1980. While Red Mountain’s big reds like Cabernet Sauvignon have become increasingly iconic, the humble Lemberger has maintained a lower profile throughout the years, with a lower price point to match.

Kiona Vineyards is a third generation, family-owned winery and vineyard that has growing and producing in the same location for more than 40 years on what has expanded to five vineyards set on 270 acres on Red Mountain. The Kiona label can be found throughout the United States and internationally, while more than 60 of the best Washington wineries purchase grapes from Kiona’s vineyards. The tasting room on Red Mountain is currently open for curbside pickup and tasting by reservation on weekends and adhering to guidelines outlined in Washington’s safe start plan.
